Necklace Holder

As seen in yesterdays post, I'm a Type 3
and with that comes a new appreciation
(and love I might add)
for lots more jewelry
However, you should have seen the way my drawers were looking.
They needed some major help.
So I made this!
I love it... my only concern is that I might need 2 of them

My absolute FAVORITE part is this cute knob!

And the winner is...

I mentioned back in this post...
that I was looking into Carol Tuttle's "stuff"

I've since, purchased her Dressing Your Truth program
(which you can see here)

and I am experimenting with dressing like a...

Type 3 - The Rich, Dynamic Woman
You are naturally dynamic, sure, and purposeful. You have the gift of “action,” and seek to constantly move those around you forward to a desired outcome.

I'm so not ready to post pictures of myself because I don't want to ask my hubby to take them,
and my awesome photographing sister hasn't come up yet.

Therefore,
let me tell you the top 3 things that being a
Type 3
is currently meaning to me.

First of all, it means I'm not broken
(That was very comforting to me)

I also think that I feel more confident being me.
I am not as concerned about what others are thinking about me as I am about being true to myself

I'm okay acting on what my mind is telling me to do most of the time...
which is to "get moving"!
I love change and movement and working and playing and filling my day with actions...
lots of them!
Okay... here is one picture. It's the one I sent in to be profiled.
(This is brave of me)
It's RAW to say the least.

Improvement pictures to come...
Then you can determine if you see a transformation.

Who Are My Sisters?

I've been chatting so much about my mysterious sisters lately
that I figured it was time to introduce you to them.

Meet Rachel!
She is crafty as long as it doesn't involve sewing.

Meet Kari!
She doesn't think she is crafty but she is...and she won't sew either.

and last but not least... meet Becky
Becky is very busy with school and her adorable husband
and hasn't been posting cute crafts... but perhaps eventually she will.

Now don't you feel better knowing that next time I mention
"my sister"...
you'll know who I am talking about?

My sisters and I are pretty much obsessed with these cute stands...
We're also pretty much obsessed with thriftyandchic.com!
and we've decided to make a bunch of these for Christmas presents

Do you love them?

Our own original twist on these adorable stands are still to come.

Witches Night Out!

One of my favorite Halloween traditions in my family is
Witches Night Out.
It is one weekend a year at Gardners Village in Salt Lake City
and it's is a cackling scream of a good time!
(That is if you love witches, shopping and more shopping)
Here is a little peak back at last year...

And this year...

Some Fall Decor

I just finished making this cute runner for the hutch in my living room. I'm loving this fall, goldish, mustard yellow and it is really making my house feel like the season it is!

A New Toy Hutch

I have some serious issues when it comes to my kids toys
What kid organizes what they play with every day?
I've tried moving all their toys to the living room
to their bedrooms
to the storage room,
and I finally found a great happy medium.
This lovely steal of a deal required a little spray paint
some bead board
and now it hold their daily favorites in a way that I can handle.
Yea.

An Amazing Traditional Sofa

This was a great project.
Not for my house of course... it's way too fancy.
But check out the transformation
It's friends like this that remind me
why a piece is worth reupholstery
Do you know how hard it is to find pieces like this in the store these days?
I just love how it turned out and can't wait for her upcoming chairs to match it!

Just Some Cuties!

I am so excited to announce that one of my 3 little sisters is finally getting into photography!
See, I'm terrible with a camera
(although every once in a while I get lucky with some cute ones like this)
but it's about time that somebody in our family acquired such a great skill.
Hopefully within the next year you will see some major progress in the quality of the pictures here on my site.

PRE Halloween Preparations

So I've been thinking about it for some time now... what should my kids be for halloween?

And then it hit me like a $3 price tag...

DEVILS!

(I am trying to stay true to their angelic natures of course!)

Man, are they ever excited about it.

Fortunately for me, there is no question as to whether or not the candy is worth the costume
Am I the meanest mom in the world?

Nevermind, don't answer that.

What are your kids going to be for Halloween?

Fun Letters

My brain (and the apparently the combined brains of my sisters
are already working on Christmas gifts.

And we love these!

But as DIY queens, would we ever consider buying them?
NO!
But we love them....

So we tried our own hand at them.
(Good thing Kari is doing photography huh?)
They have potential don't you think?

I'm An Expert...

...at putting my computer keys back on!

Can you believe... I put my 3 1/2 year old and my nearly 2 year old down for a little quiet time
on a Sunday afternoon,
and when I went in a few minutes later to check on them,
THIS is what I found!

Just loving this life of mine.

I was able to restore it
thankfully...

and the motherboard crashed (and died I might add)
three weeks later.

Again, love it!

Power Tools!!!

I just had to share the excitement
Other than my drill
(which is technically my hubby's),
my pneumatic stapler, my finish nailer and my air compressor,...
this is my first power tool!
Okay, so it isn't exactly my first, but I am way excited about it!
I am the proud new owner of a miter saw!!!
It was a steal-of-a-deal at $20 on KSL.com
(I know! That's exactly what I thought!)
Just think of all the awesome stuff I can make?! So many projects come to mind!
I can build the furniture frames I've been wanting to make,
I can do crown molding and trim,
I can make those cute harvest signs that I think are so cute...
the possibilities are endless
Now if I could just get my hands on an awesome table saw...
(What a great Christmas present idea!!!)
I saw this post here and I've got to try it out.
For now, I will be content... but I'm on the prowl

Refinished Lamp

So I found this lamp at DI and I really liked the shape and texture of it all.

It was in pretty rough shape.
It was falling apart and needed some work.
Maybe most people knew this, but there's a huge bolt holding it all together.
What a novel idea... tighten it up a little and we're in business!

Here it is BEFORE:

I found some awesome hammered bronze paint that I thought would look nice...
and maybe it would have if I were going for hammered silver
Does this look bronze to you?

After yet another trip to the paint store, I am much happier.
It is still pretty coppery though.

And I lived with it this way for a week or two until I figured out how I wanted to glaze it.

I put a darker medium over it and it took the shine off.
(My favorite... burnt umber!)

Why would I cover my work space? I'm not doing anything messy
(If that isn't true to my Type 3 nature, I don't know what is.)

And here it is AFTER:
Ahhhhh... much better.
(Just wait until you get the story about the lampshade!)

Harvest Sign

I know, I know... another post about my sister
You've got to be asking yourself by now if
the anything girl
does anything for herself anymore.
Well, she does
(I mean I do)
but my sister... Kari...
just has such cute stuff lately!
And here is her latest.

My New Favorite Fall Wreath

Can't you smell it in the air?

I love fall time and while I'm not a huge decorator for seasons and holidays,
I love the feel of the fall
I had a seriously stressful couple of days
(Moms never have those... right?)
and this was some awesome therapy for me!

I just sit in my driveway and stare at it because I love it so much!

I started with a grapevine wreath that I made in a previous post.

Then I bought some picks at Hobby Lobby.
You could totally use a garland here and it will be a lot easier but will also cost a little bit more.

Then I worked little by little...

And I hot glued AND wired my picks in there.

Added some cute pumpkins

Hung it with a ribbon nailed to the top of my door,

and WaaLaa!

Cute Deco Balls!

My cute little sister has got skills!
She just came up with this cute deco ball!

 Isn't it adorable?
She just used ribbon and created the whole rosette looking thing.
Love it.
